Information on Project Greenlight |
|
State Street looked like Hollywood Boulevard
the evening of March 12th when the Project Greenlight movie, "Stolen
Summer", premiered at the Chicago Theater. The brain child of Matt
Damon and Ben Affleck, Project Greenlight gave aspiring filmakers
the opportunity to enter their scripts in an online contest. The
Grand Prize was a chance to direct their own film with a million
dollar budget! The winner was one of Chicago's own, Pete Jones from
Deerfield. His movie, "Stolen Summer," boasts a star studded cast
with Aidan Quinn, Bonnie Hunt, and Kevin Pollak. Janet Davies got
to chat with all of them, including co-producer Matt Damon himself,
as they made thier way down the green, yes, green carpet for the
movie's premiere! "Stolen Summer" opened in theaters on March 22nd.

Information on The Rookie |
|
He went from being a Texas high school Chemistry
teacher and coach, to Major League Baseball's oldest rookie pitcher
in 4 decades. It is the real-life story of Jim Morris and the inspiration
behind the new Disney movie, "The Rookie". Dennis Quaid plays this
legendary baseball player. The story began with a simple bet...a
bet Morris made in hopes of motivating his struggling varsity baseball
team. That bet...if his team won the district championship, in return,
Jim would try out for the Major Leagues. Jim's team won the championship
and -he- ended up pitching for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Our own
Lou Canellis chatted with both the star of the film and the man
whose story inspired it.
