Information on Oil & Vinegar and City Olive |
At Oil & Vinegar, that's exactly what you'll find! This new boutique
recently opened in River North just a few months ago, but the concept
has been huge a hit in Europe for quite some time! As soon as you
walk into this shop, the first thing you notice are the vessels on
the backwall, filled with about 30 extra virgin olive oils and 15
vinegars from all over the world! Everything here is 'on tap'…just
choose a bottle and buy the amount you want! And, you can even try
it before you buy it!
City olive owner and former nurse, Karen Rose just opened this store
on North Clark Street in Andersonville in late March. The health benefits
of olive oil are what prompted her to get into the business. Here
you'll find 24 extra virgin olive oils from 9 different countries
and tasting are held daily. City Olive also offers a large selection
of infused olive oils, vinegars, mustards, pastas, sauces, an extensive
line of sea salts and naturally, olives!

Information on Baladoche |
This Lakeview spot is dishing out nothing but waffles! It's called
Baladoche-the owners made up the name to mean 'tasty and sweet'-and
these special treats are exactly that! But don't expect to find these
babies served only during breakfast and oozing with butter and syrup!
Baladoche's grab-and-go goodies are the other Belgian waffles! The
Zucker waffle, as it's known in the states, was invented during the
18th century in Belgium for the Prince of Liege as a portable snack,
and has been a big hit there every since! All the ingredients are
imported…right down to the water! And, they're made with a yeast rising
dough rather than a batter, but the secret is in the vanilla-infused
sugar pearls! The menu also offers espresso, gelato, and Belgian chocolates.
And when the weather is warmer, be sure to stop by their walk-up waffle
window!

Information on Moo & Oink |
Moo & Oink is a Chicago staple! And if there's one thing that this
meat store is known for in this town, it's their commercials starring
'Moo' & 'Oink', the dancing cow & pig, and the fast talking, Tommy
"T-man" Wilburn! This grocery store's history traces back nearly 150
through several generations of butchers and it's the spot for great
bar-be-cue meats! The freezers are stocked with a huge assortment
of pork and beef. And, on the weekends they actually cook it up for
you so you can taste what you're going to buy! Windy City native and
NBA superstar Dwyane Wade, Jr. also has a connection to moo & oink…his
father is their spokesperson!
