Information on Chicago’s Newest Night Spots |
|
Chicago’s known for a lot of things including its nightlife and this summer a whole slew of new clubs have opened up around the city!
Crescendo, a new ultra lounge on Ontario Street comes from the guys behind another popular Chicago nightspot, Reserve! Located in the former L8 space, this two-story club is now decked out in a retro-Moroccan theme. Plus, the classic American fare is not to be missed!
The name is Latin for ‘light’ and that’s exactly what the main attraction is at Lumen! The impressive overhead l-e-d light installation here constantly changes color based on body movements and sound adding different hues to the white minimal décor. Previously a meat-packing factory, this 5,000 square foot room in the heart of the Fulton Market District is now a green-friendly contemporary nightlife venue built entirely out of bamboo, stainless steel and concrete!
Mark Klemen, the man behind another popular hot spot—Funky Buddha Lounge brings us the environmentally conscience Butterfly Social Club on Grand Avenue in River West! And here, everything is organic and recyclable! The wild façade is made entirely out of waste products like Chicago mud and Illinois river rock—in fact, it’s the largest earth sculpture in the world! And the drinks are all-natural and fresh—even the ice cubes are made with spring water!
Situated in the former Rhythm space on Randolph Street, Red Kiva is a sexy lounge featuring a boomerang shaped bar overlooking a sunken living room based on a “kiva”, a ceremonial structure used by Native Americans!

Information on Noble Horse Theater |
By day some horses around town simply give carriage rides, but at night they’re the stars of the show at the Noble Horse Theater in Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood! Constructed in 1871, this horse performance theater is one of the oldest buildings in the city and is the last urban riding hall in the country! Former Marine Corps mounted guard Dan Sampson purchased this 136 year-old stable in 1985. The building was in bad shape, but after a 15 year renovation it was up and running once again! Three equestrian shows are now held in the castle-like setting annually—“Quadrille”, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”, and “The Nutcracker”…on horseback! Audiences up to 400 are entertained here by 50 steeds and 20 performers including a couple of very impressive trick riders from Kazakhstan! Shows last about an hour and each one ends with a meet and greet!
