Extra Information on Unilever Sweat Lab
On warm summer days, we all-hope-our deodorant is up to par… but finding products that keep our underarms dry is all in a day's work for some Chicago researchers! Unilever fine tunes all of its deodorants at its Global Technology Center in Rolling Meadows. Dozens of paid research subjects turn out each day for testing in an actual Sweat Lab where nurses, scientists and 'sniffologists' monitor their armpits! Lou Canellis donned his smock and stepped into the so-called 'hot room' to see what a day in the life of these 'professional sweaters' is all about!

Extra Information on "Down in the Dumps Tour"
Everyday we do things that we hardly think about-eating, brushing our teeth, and throwing garbage out. On average, every Chicagoan throws away 4 ˝ pounds of garbage a day! Doug hopped aboard the 3 hour "Down in the Dumps" bus tour on the far south side. It's a chance for residents and students to learn more about what happens to garbage once you throw it away. The tour is organized by the Southeast Environmental Task Force, a conservation group wanting to preserve open space by trying to limit landfills.

Extra Information on Weird Chicago Laws
We've dug up some funny, unusual, and downright bizarre Chicago laws that are still in the books today:
  • Did you know that it's illegal to eat in a burning building?
  • Some of our earlier, less enlightened lawmakers decided that unmarried females living in Illinois are required to refer to men as "master", not mister!
  • Poodles are persona-non-grata at the opera in Chicago! That's ok…poodles prefer the ballet, anyway!
  • Did you know that by Chicago law all animals can enjoy the pleasures of a fine bourbon at a tavern whenever they please? However, once again dogs get the short end of the stick! It's illegal for dogs to drink whisky!
  • An Illinois law prohibits people from dancing barefoot!
  • It's against Chicago law to fish in men's pajamas!
  • In Chicago, city law still mandates that each individual keeps a minimum of one dollar in their pockets at all times!
  • Illinoisans are forbidden by law to speak English…in this state, we speak American!
