On warm summer days, we all-hope-our deodorant is up to par… but finding
products that keep our underarms dry is all in a day's work for some
Chicago researchers! Unilever fine tunes all of its deodorants at
its Global Technology Center in Rolling Meadows. Dozens of paid research
subjects turn out each day for testing in an actual Sweat Lab where
nurses, scientists and 'sniffologists' monitor their armpits! Lou
Canellis donned his smock and stepped into the so-called 'hot room'
to see what a day in the life of these 'professional sweaters' is
all about!

Information on "Down in the Dumps Tour" |
|
Everyday we do things that we hardly think about-eating, brushing
our teeth, and throwing garbage out. On average, every Chicagoan throws
away 4 ˝ pounds of garbage a day! Doug hopped aboard the 3 hour "Down
in the Dumps" bus tour on the far south side. It's a chance for residents
and students to learn more about what happens to garbage once you
throw it away. The tour is organized by the Southeast Environmental
Task Force, a conservation group wanting to preserve open space by
trying to limit landfills.

Michelle Alegria got 'ducky' with Wisconsin priest who's raising funds
for charity with duck poop! Father Dominic Roscioli's desire to help
the disadvantaged in his hometown prompted him to get into the fertilizer
business, which grew out of a community recycling effort he helped
start in 1984. Along with financial support from his friend Paul Newman,
Father Dom's Duck's Doo was born!
