EXTRA Information on the Cascade Drive-In Theater

It was the coolest way to catch a show back in the 50's and if you thought drive-in's were simply a thing of the past, think again. Outdoor cinemas have been dwindling in number for decades ... but Chicagoland is still home to four drive-ins. Our Lou Canellis headed to one of them. The Cascade Drive-in in West Chicago opened its doors back in the early 50's and happens to be the -largest- outdoor cinema in the state, with a capacity for 1200 cars. The Cascade features first-run films 7 nights a week from April to October. Customers can listen to the movie with the traditional speakers or through the theatre's FM radio frequency. Prices are $6 for adults and $1 for children. The Cascade also has a snack bar that serves hot dogs, brats, pizza, popcorn, candy, etc. For more information, call: The Cascade Drive-in Theatre located 1.5 miles east of Route 59 on North Avenue (630)231-3150 For more information about America's remaining Drive-in theatres, check out: www.driveinmovie.com
