Extra Information on Andersonville

One neighborhood back in the city that is rich with culture and history.. is Andersonville. It's an area north of downtown, actually within Edgewater that was settled back in the mid-18-hundreds, primarily by Swedish immigrants. While many of those Swedes have now left, this small neighborhood still retains plenty of Scandinavian charm.

Extra Information on Palatine

Michelle Alegria heads northwest from the city to the Village of Palatine. While this community has grown exponentially in the past few decades, its history actually goes back to 1855. This history lives on at the Lamplighter Inn Tavern and Grille. The building now housing the tavern has been used as a church, Masonic Lodge, and school in its long history. The Bellanca family has run the tavern since 1975. Another Palatine landmark eatery is Brandt's Little Café. With fewer than 20 tables, the café may be little, but its rather large burgers are famous among Palatine residents. For nightlife, Durty Nellie's is the spot in Palatine. From open mic and Karaoke nights to well-known music acts, the venue is the place for live music in Palatine. Another section of this entertainment complex features a restaurant with a menu that far exceeds simple bar food.
