Not many Chicagoans know that on the Northwest side of the city is a company that tans the leather for Wilson's NFL and NCAA footballs-the Horween Leather Company! Horween leather became a part of the NFL family in the 1950's when George Halas went to the Horweens and asked them to produce a better football for the league. Halas introduced the Horweens to his friends at Wilson and the rest is NFL history! Doug Banks got a behind the scenes peek at this 50-year-old Chicago mainstay.
