Fastball USA owner and life-long baseball player, Mike Ryan, has been
training rookies at a gym in suburban Elmhurst for the last six years
along with some experts from across the country!
"Our coaching staff…has all been involved with professional baseball
in the past, including the Kansas City Royals organization. We got
a scout with the Phillies organization. I'm associated with the
Seattle Mariners as an associate scout …a lot of these players,
coaches, have been involved in either major college programs or
professional baseball or softball," said Mike Ryan, Fastball USA
Owner.
Grade school to college-age athletes improve their pitching and
batting velocity at this baseball and softball academy by practicing
extreme drills like whipping medicine balls full speed into walls
and while jumping on mini trampolines. They even hula with five
pound hoops!
"We really believe that a big reason why kids get hurt today is
because they're not prepared for the stress they're going to take
when they get out on the pitchers' mound. So, what we put these
guys through is areas of conditioning their stomach, their back,
their legs, making their bodies stronger," said Ryan.
And, the results are guaranteed.
"The average student improves 4 mph in 12 weeks. Over a year,
we've had kids in here improve as much as 10 mph, which is almost
unheard of," said Ryan.
But, this program is only for the serious athlete! Some of the
pitchers throw around 85 mph.
The program is not only for men.
"I come here for batting and fielding So, with one trainer, I'll
work half an hour with throwing and catching and fielding and with
another, I'll do batting. So, it just kind of gets me stronger and
in shape for the season," said Kacey Morency, High School Freshman,
Short Stop. For more information:
