Torme' has always had his head in the stars not only by living in Beverly Hills but  by growing up with "The Jr. Rat Pack".  Boyhood friends of Torme'  were Hollywood superstars' children Dean Martin, Jr. (Dino), Tony Martin, Jr., Liza Minnelli, and Desi Arnez, Jr. whom he is still friends with today.

After recording his first album, "Lucky", in the late 70's Torme' has always been destined for stardom.  Contrary to what some might think, recording is not the only passion in the entertainment business for the talented performer. 

Following "Lucky", a 30 city concert tour, he returned to California to produce the album "Tropical Nights" for Liza Minnelli, on Columbia records.  Shortly after his producing debut, Liza was quick to say that Torme' was one of her favorite singer/song writers in the world.

For the last several years Torme' has been performing around the country in nite clubs, concerts and jazz festivals.  His CD, Swingin' At The Blue Moon Bar & Grill features a duet with his late father on the song "Straighten Up & Fly Right".  Along with his star shining reviews of on stage performances, his recent CD is getting rave reviews from fans and critics alike.

Son of bandleader Tilden Lawrence, Doug first started playing the saxophone at age 13.  By age 16, he won an international award and college scholarship to North Texas State University, a leadingJazz institute.  Advancing his career and reputation to an even  higher level Lawrence has played for four American presidents, and the Royal Families of England, Sweden and Monaco.

Recently, after releasing two albums on Fable Records, playing in Benny Goodman's Orchestra and Buck Clayton's Orchestra, Lawrence was recruited by Marc Curtis, owner / executive producer of The Black Orchid.  Curtis believes, "The old supper clubs of the 30's, 40's and 50's were so romantic and elegant that they deserve a comeback." 

Along with a spectacular music ensemble, The Black Orchid's food is as elegant as the decor of the music hall/restaurant.  With all meals supervised by Executive Chef Ami Sananes, an upscale exotic fusion is brought to the menu.
