Information on L8 & LeLan |
Lou Canellis checked out two new hot spots, L8 & LeLan! The team behind nightclubs Sound-Bar and Y have teamed up with Phil Stefani's Signature Restaurants to open L8! Here you'll find gourmet pizzas prepared in one of the two centerpiece wood-burning ovens, mid-priced wood-roasted entrees, small plates and pasta dishes! L8 has a similar room-bumping sound system to its siblings, so still expect a high-energy dining experience! And, for a casual fine-dining experience, check out LeLan, a French-Vietnamese restaurant from powerhouse chefs Roland Liccioni (Les Nomades) and Arun Sampanthavivat (Arun's). The menu combines the delicate, rich flavors of France with the spicy balance of flavors from Vietnam, with modern spins on classic dishes! Look for glazed rib eye, smoked squab, crispy-skinned duck and roast bass with lemongrass.

Information on Chicago Curling Club |
|
Doug Banks learned how to curl! Curling has been around a long time-since16th century Scotland-and now it's a winter Olympic medal sport! It's a difficult game to master, not unlike golf, and many curlers are golfers when the ice melts. Curling takes place in a temperature controlled ice arena with two, four person teams competing on a 138-foot long by 8-foot wide ice surface. The teams take turns propelling 42-pound granite stones (also called "rocks") on the ice surface to a bulls-eye target over 100 feet away. While many factors enter into a successful "throw," strategy and technique usually prevail over strength and athletic skill. It takes less than an hour to learn how to curl, two hours to play a game, and a lifetime to fully enjoy all the nuances!
