Hosting entertainers such as Jennifer Holliday, Diane Schuur and Steve March Torme', The Black Orchid has nothing but the finest musicians accompanying their guests.

With 10 Grammy Awards and 15 Grammy nominations, within the 15 piece band,  sounds echo off the walls as a down jacket keeps people warm through a Chicago winter.  Each one of the musicians, some of the top artists around today, have been hand picked by universally renowned musician Doug Lawrence.

Son of bandleader Tilden Lawrence, Doug first started playing the saxophone at age 13.  By age 16, he won an international award and college scholarship to North Texas State University, a leadingJazz institute.  Advancing his career and reputation to an even  higher level Lawrence has played for four American presidents, and the Royal Families of England, Sweden and Monaco.

Along with a spectacular music ensemble, The Black Orchid's food is as elegant as the decor of the music hall/restaurant.  With all meals supervised by Executive Chef Ami Sananes, an upscale exotic fusion is brought to the menu.

Starting each meal is a delicious mixed greens salad followed by your choice of four varied main courses with side orders of Roasted Rosemary New Potato and Steamed Vegetables.  Following the meal, Dessert du Jour and Coffee is served.
