EXTRA Information on Jim Peterik (formerly of Survivor and Ides of March)

In 1978, Jim Peterik, and fellow guitarist Frankie Sullivan, put the sophisticated melodic US rock group Survivor together. They recruited vocalist Dave Bickler, and then increased the band's size with the addition of Marc Doubray (drums) and Stephen Ellis (bass). Survivor's biggest hit was the song 'Eye of the Tiger,' the theme to the Rocky III film. The single, which was an anthem to many, became a worldwide number 1 hit. It is also present on numerous FM radio stations and various advertising campaigns. After their second album, Caught in the Game, Bickler was fired and replaced by ex-Cobra vocalist Jimi Jamison, which led to their third release, Vital Signs. This album resulted in two Top 10 hits with 'High on You,' and 'The Search is Over.' Shortly after these hits, Survivor recorded 'Burning Heart' as the theme song to Rocky IV in 1986. After the release of their next album, When Seconds Count, which doesn't include 'Burning Heart,' the group reduced its size to only three members, which consisted of Jamison, Sullivan, and Peterik. After they finished the album Too Hot To Sleep, the group finally ended its run in 1989.
