They’re fast, fierce and quite boisterous. And now thanks to the program Science Chicago, kids aged 10 and up can see first hand just how riveting the art of flying can be.
Located in Wheeling, The Chicago Executive Airport, the 3rd largest in Illinois, takes these students on a behind the scenes tour of how the airport operates on a daily basis.
Designed to peek the student’s interest in science, the kids go into the Federal Aviation Administration’s control tower, where not even our cameras are allowed, to see how air traffic is monitored and controlled. they also meet a licensed pilot who takes them on a tour of an actual hangar.
For some of these students, getting to touch and feel and even horse around in the cockpit certainly has its rewards.
