New Lounges

Janet visited a few places for great food and fabulous drinks—the cities newest lounges!

First stop, a turn-of-the-century-inspired salon, La Pomme Rouge—that’s French for ‘the red apple’! The concept revolves around three popular interpretations of the fruit—knowledge, beauty and temptation.

Crimson lounge in the Hotel Sax, formerly the House of Blues Hotel is now decorated in a style of east-meets-west with French-style furniture, Persian rugs and Japanese lanterns. Another unique touch is a love seat bar-stool built for two!

Iggy’s is an institution in this town and its back in its third incarnation! Dion Antic, the man behind the previous two Iggy’s locales is bringing us Iggy’s number 3 in the Gold Coast in the old Chicago Rib House space. But this time around he’s just a consultant, not an owner. True to the original, the new Iggy’s is small—it seats about 60, with pictures of sock monkeys lining the walls!

V.I.C.E. in the west loop comes to us from restaurateur, Dan Krasny, the man behind VIVO. And here all you’ll find are tiny portions of food. That’s right, this spot is calling itself as an amuse buche boutique! And in case you didn’t know, an amuse buche is a bite-sized morsel served before an appetizer to excite the taste buds.
