Timbuktu
Shrine
At the Timbuktu Shrine, anyone can get a glimpse into African culture
and their future with a reading from Chief Khalilu, an Ifa priest.
Ifa is an ancient, West African spiritual tradition about nature,
honoring ancestors, and finding balance within the universe. Thousands
of Chicagoans practice Ifaism but, to become an Ifa priest one must
have the natural gift of insight and foresight. Chief Khalilu hails
from Sierra Leone, in West Africa. He immigrated to the U.S. 25-years-ago
and has been sharing his gift with Chicagoans ever since. After
a half-hour reading from chief Khalilu, one should feel balanced,
relieved and empowered.
